Excelsior Rocketry

Excelsior often receives questions from customers about sources for vintage plans, parts # references, and parts suppliers. The below links are provided as sources for information, parts, and kits.

Please click on the title of any website below to open that site in a new browser window.

SECTION ONE: Reference links.
Plans, parts #s, and vintage catalog references:

Jim Z's Rocket Plans

The mother of all vintage plan links. Jim Z has the largest collection of vintage plans listed on one place.

Ye Olde Rocket Shoppe

Ye Olde Rocket Shoppe is the most comprehensive listing of rocket information on the web, bar none. ESTES and Centuri kit lists, cloning links, vendor links, building tips, rocket email, and a vintage plan list (Ye Olde Rocket Plans) second only to Jim Z's, but with plans from a far more eclectic range of  rocket companies. For example, where else can you find plans for the SAI Mini Bat?

Ninfinger catalogs listing

The Ninfinger online collection contains a comprehensive history of model rocketry in the form of ESTES and Centuri catalogs, all scanned, year by year. Click on the ESTES 1974 parts catalog for the most complete listing of vintage ESTES parts, parts #s, and their dimensions. Scroll lower down on the Ninfinger site to view hard to find catalogs from Bomar, Canaroc, FSI, RDC, and Vashon, plus many others.

Essence's Model Rocket Reviews

EMRR offers a generous helping of resources for the model rocketeer, including downloadable Rocsim files for many in production and OOP rockets designs, a center of pressure library, flight logs, hints, tips, contests, stories, give-aways, and much, much more.

SECTION TWO: Parts suppliers

Thrustline Aerospace

Thrustline offers a fine selection of kits as well as parts and 'replica parts packs' to clone long out of print model rockets

Balsa Machine Services

BMS offers a comprehensive panoply of reproduction balsa nosecones. Most are made to vintage ESTES specs but there are some hard to find Centuri styles as well. BMS also offers handy custom laser cutting of centering rings, rocsim fins, and slotting of body tubes. Their building supplies and parts selection makes BMS a one stop shopping site for most cloning projects.

Totally Tubular

Totally Tubular carries just about every body tube size ever produced, and then some. When placing an order, it is well worth it to grab some tube couplers and centering rings as well.

Fliskits

Fliskits carries a wonderful variety of the most original new rocket designs. They also are the source for the BNC-60DW nosecone needed for the Iron Wombat.

Semroc

Semroc's main product are their wonderful, and ever expanding line of 'Retro-Repro' kits. They also carry a wide variety of Centuri sized parts including balsa nosecones.

SECTION THREE:
Online assistance and communities.

YAHOO Old Rockets discussion group

The Old Rockets discussion group is a great site to get the answers to all of your BAR (Born Again Rocketeer) questions such as: What came first, the gold plastic nosecone version of the ESTES Bomarc, or the hollow balsa nosecone version? How good is that new Scissor Wing Transport re-issue? Or, just how does Vern pronounce his famous last name?

The Rocketry Forum

TRF is a wonderful flame-free community just chock full of helpful model rocketeers who love to help out, or just talk rockets!

SECTION FOUR: CLUBS

National Association of Rocketry (NAR)
